Mojave Phone Booth Glass
or
'You paid how much for broken glass?'

I would like to start out by saying that this is stupid, nay it's stoooopid. But hell, it was fun too.

Back in October of 1999 an auction appeared on ebay. It was for something hitherto unseen in such a venue. It was for Genuine Mojave Phone Booth Glass (if that means nothing to you, go look at Godfrey's site, then come back).

I placed a bid while at Aiglet's place, went home, and went to sleep.

The next day the following was in my inbox:

Item Description:

Genuine Mojave Phone Booth glass.

(You don't know the story of the Mojave Phone Booth?)

Winning bidder receives a film canister approximately 1/2 full of broken glass from The Booth, hand-gathered from the area, sifted, cleaned, and hand-picked clean of dirt, rocks, pebbles, firearms shells, levi's jeans rivets, and various animal droppings, along with a signed certificate of authenticity.

(And probably other fun stuff I'll throw in just for fun.)
----------------------

I danced, I cheered, I acted like an utter fool. (I found out later though that Aiglet had stayed up until the auction ended to insure I wasn't outbid, so we were both fools).

After a few emails back and forth, I sent off a check to Godfrey, and recieved my prize, along with a couple old X-Mags, a copy of Macros, And a signed picture of Wagner.

Now that I have the glass I'm not sure what to do with it, I will likely incorporate it into The Cat somehow.
